Did you ever read that astonishing book by Sy Montgomery, called The Soul of an Octopus : A Surprising Exploration into the Wonder of Consciousness? I read it a while ago and was delighted with it – perhaps I should read it again!
I came across this lovely sculpture of an octopus in Swanage and it is carved by Jonathan Sells, a Dorset sculptor and stone carver. His personal story is really inspiring about overcoming difficulties and finding your passion.
This octopus looks out over the sea at Swanage, and I was there on a gloriously sunny day. I had picked up a leaflet about exploring Swanage through a sculpture trail. What a great idea. But I had to search closely to find this one. Clearly not everyone appreciates public art!
