Hare at Christmas

I saw this marvellous sculpture at Southampton City Art Gallery today, Hare on an Anvil, by Barry Flanagan. Apparently he saw a hare running across a field back in the ’70’s, and was fascinated by them from that time on. I do remember that when I was doing the sculpting course in Portland in the summer, one of the students made the most amazing sculpture of a hare from the shape of the stone that suggested that very form. It was magical!

And when I arrived home today I opened this Christmas card:)

Thanks Anna!

In Egyptian mythology the hare represents Life, and in Chinese mythology the hare alone inhabits the moon and is the symbol of immortality. :).

Have a happy day, full of Life and on-going joy:)
