Chagall afoot

I came across this beautiful art piece, which is the painting of Marc Chagall’s ‘Birthday’ onto a shoe last, when I was in a craft market in Buenos Aires in the summer.  When I was a youngster I remember seeing an exhibition of Chagall’s work at the National Gallery in London, and his painting of the Birthday was on the poster advertising that exhibition.  I loved the dreaminess of the image and the expression it gave of being swept-off-your-feet in love.  I bought that poster and had it on my bedroom wall for a whole while.  So when I came across this piece in Argentina, I was immediately drawn to it, and the originality of the depiction on the shoe last.  Delightful!  It now sits on my mantelpiece in the living room and continues to entrance me 🙂

Do you have any unusual art pieces?  I’d love to hear about them 🙂
