I came across this rather lovely sculpture by Hanne Varming, in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. I thought it unusual because it is more often that women are figured with children than men. I like to think of this sculpture as redressing the balance, and paying tribute to all the Dad’s, Uncles and Grandpas who have dandled children on their knees, giving youngsters warmth, affection, protection and a sense of adventure.
While in Frederiksberg I also came across a bicycle race and it was a lot of fun cheering the cyclists who had made it to the top of the hill before they whizzed down again. What a lovely place 🙂
