Joan of Arc

I came across this lovely sculpture of Joan of Arc in the Quasar art gallery, Cherbourg, France. It’s by Arnand Le Veel. He made a number of sculptures of her, this one calm and poised. I saw another one in a Sotheby’s catalogue where she has sword drawn and horse rearing. She was a young woman caught up in the politics of her day, captured and tortured, only for her innocence to be recognised later.
