What’s in a shape?

Just squares, rectangles, lines and circles? What about the space in between and through? What about colour – just colour? Barbara Hepworth utilised all those things in a Constructivist way to portray a symbol at the heart of Christianity, the cross of Christ.

There is a death – that thing which is so human and devastating. But this death shows that the Divine also partakes in that extreme of all agonies. And, as Divine, transforms it. Christ crucified ‘The power of God and the Wisdom of God’, in the words of St Paul.
