Elegance

This beautiful sculpture by Simon Gudgeon, stands three metres tall. It is called Isis, and its elegance and soft curves remind me of the Egyptian goddess of the same name, also known as Queen of Heaven, or Mother of God. She was the goddess of fertility, goddess of the earth, and giver of the light at the new year.

At sculpturebythelake, the setting for all the sculptures is stunning : landscaped grounds through lakes and alongside the River Frome. The river was running fast when I visited , a few days after heavy rain. Although the temperatures were low and my hands cold, it was lovely to warm my hands on the bronze statues warmed by the sun. The sculptures draw you to them and invite you to trace their surfaces. Beauty and peace. What an amazing place.
